Open Auto Transport
The most common way to ship a vehicle: loaded onto an open multi-car carrier and transported to its destination. It's a cost-effective choice for most standard vehicles, coordinated with a qualified motor carrier.
How open transport works
Your vehicle is loaded onto an open car hauler alongside other vehicles. Because an open carrier moves several vehicles at once, it's generally the more economical option, and open carriers are widely available, which often means more scheduling flexibility.
What to keep in mind
Vehicles on open carriers are exposed to weather and road conditions, much as they would be if driven. For everyday cars, SUVs, and trucks, that's usually perfectly fine. If your vehicle is classic, exotic, or high-value, consider enclosed transport instead.
Best for
- Everyday cars, SUVs, and trucks
- Dealer and auction inventory
- Relocations
- Budget-conscious shipments
